My experience with the new Pocketbook InkPad Color 3

Unread post by Virginia76 »

Dear EBOOKOZ friends,

I just wanted to share my experience with the newly released Pocketbook Ink Pad Color 3.

I did not have any Pocketbook before, just a Tolino. Don't know if everybody is familiar with the Tolino. But it sucks, really! It's what you get here in Switzerland and what people mostly use in my country. Little did I know that the Pocketbook actually is a Swiss brand....

About the Tolino I used to read with: When swiping to the next page, the screen started to flicker and it was pretty slow. This annoyed me so much after a while I stopped reading with it.

As I am not so familiar with the different e-reader brands yet, I kind of took my chances and ordered the new Pocketbook InkPad Color 3.

Why in color? I don't know how it works with you, but when I see a book cover in black and white, I am not very interested to read it. That was also another reason I stopped reading with the Tolino.
So I was really curious to find out if it would change, if I would buy an e-reader with color display. And boy, I was not disappointed! Not only am I using it every day now, the Pocketbook is just such a cool e-reader. It is very fast and has no issues going back and forth from page to page, just like it should be. It also has a pretty good battery running time. So I don't know what e-reader you use, but in case you were looking for a treat, I can recommend it to you from the bottom of my bookish heart.

I'm pretty curious: what e-reader do you use, and which one do you recommend?

I use the Marvin app on Apple iPad & have done for nearly 10 years now.
I can’t fault the app.
TIA

I have tried many myself including tablets and straight ereaders. I prefer an ereader as I find the tablets heavy to hold for as long as I like to read. I have a Kobo Glo I believe it is. I've had a few Kobo to try out but believe this one is a Glo. It is e-ink and no need for lights at night and is easy on the eyes. I watched a little video of the one you just bought and it looks similar to my Kobo but don't think mine has any color anywhere.

Hey chawee

I also think I prefer e-readers. The iPad is really heavy, and I guess too shiny for my taste. It don't like reading on a screen when reading books, I also prefer the e-ink. So far I did not own a Kobo, but it looks pretty similar to the Tolino. I guess most is anyway done in the same factories around the globe. I was also thinking of a Kobo first, as it's a pretty well-known brand.

Hey Tsundoku, I will let you know. Will check it out tonight. I'm pretty curious, as I've never heard of it. I have an iPad Pro which is also kind of big and I can imagine it's comfortable. Isn't it too shiny to read though? Well, will find it out later.

I tried to find the Marvin App, but it says it's not available in my country. When visiting the brand website I get redirected to the Apple Store with the same info. Damn...I tried with VPN...nope...
