You have definitely piqued my interest with this comment!

I finished Klara and the Sun yesterday. I like Kazuo Ishiguro's work and he's a Nobel Prize winner but... this one was terribly underwhelming. Maybe it was my own fault for hyping myself up so much 😞 such a pity as it was one of my most expected 2021 releases. Has anyone else read it? Is it on anyone's TBR list right now?

Ohh sorry, I don't want to tamper with your expectations. On Goodreads it has 4.03 stars from 18,378 ratings, so people are liking it? It wasn't exactly bad, but tbh seeing the glowing reviews it's receiving, it makes me wonder how much knowing the writer is a Nobel prize can askew the way readers go through a book.

This could spark a very interesting conversation about overrated/underrated books! 😉

We are four months into the year, so here goes a new question: which 2021 launch has been your fav so far? I have read 13 books published in 2021, of which I've given a 5 star rating to:
- The Future is Yours: epistolary time travel sci-fi
- Good Neighbors: suburban crime thriller
- The Shape of Darkness: Victorian paranormal crime mystery thriller
- Doors of Sleep: dystopian multiverse sci-fi

Of the 23 books I've read so far, only five were actually released in 2021.
All of them were good reads, but my most anticipated book (which turned out to be just what I expected), was Life's too short by Abby Jimenez - solid 5-star-read closing out the Friend Zone trilogy.
I also rated Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor, Act your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and The Hill we climb by Amanda Gorman with 4 stars.

Currently have one on the board, Murder: The Biography by Kate Morgan. The people/murders covered in it sound so interesting!

How are you guys doing with the 2021 launches?? I haven't read as much as I'd have liked to since my last post, but there are a couple 5-stars in my read list of books published this year: Skyward Inn and The Mary Shelley Club.

Also, in my first post, I did mention The Absolute Book. Yeah, let's say I regret picking that one up :/

I was really looking forward to Samantha Downings For Your Own Good. She certainly didn't disappoint me.
One of the best books I've ever read. I loved every page of the book.
